Set Attributes

This shell extension provides a quick and simple way to check (and optionally change) the archive, read-only, hidden, system, compressed and encrypted attribute status of any file or folder. Right-click any folder or file icon and you'll see the Set Attributes entry on the context-menu, followed by a combination of the letters A, R, H, S, C and E indicating the current attributes set for that item. Click this item to show the Set Attributes dialog box.

When the dialog appears, the checked boxes will indicate the attributes currently set for that file or folder. Check or uncheck boxes to add or remove the associated attribute. To commit these attributes to the selected file or folder, click the Apply button (or press Enter). To cancel and close the window, click the Cancel button (or press Esc).

This extension is just as easy to use with multiple files. The dialog lists all the files you selected, along with their current attributes, and you can apply the same set of attributes to each selected file.

Compressed and Encrypted attributes are supported only on NTFS drives. The Encrypted attribute is shown for information only and cannot be changed in ShellToys. However, changing the Compressed attribute will compress/decompress the selected items on-the-fly.
